Osteoporosis is symptomless until the first fracture. DXA is the reference method for measuring bone mineral density and underpins the diagnostic criteria for osteoporosis.
The Horizon platform measures bone density in roughly 10–30 seconds per scan and produces up to 220 regional values for fat, lean and bone tissue in a body composition analysis of about 2 minutes.
What the system measures
Beyond the standard bone density study, Horizon supports additional assessments that broaden the clinical use of the system.
- Bone mineral density and fracture risk assessment
- Body composition analysis — fat, lean and bone tissue by region
- TBS Osteo — trabecular bone score, assessing bone texture and improving fracture risk prediction
- Pixel-by-pixel calibration through bone and tissue for long-term measurement stability
- OnePass single-sweep technology, eliminating beam overlap errors
- Patients up to approximately 227 kg
Where it is used
The system fits both diagnostic and rheumatology settings and any place where body composition is tracked.
- Osteoporosis screening and follow-up
- Endocrinology and rheumatology
- Nutritional status and body composition assessment
- Sports medicine and fitness assessment
